Thinking on a Continuum
There's not enough room to maneuver with black and white thinking, so I like to think on a continuum.
In a relationship, for example, on a scale from 1 to 10, there are level "10" behaviors that can be very damaging. By eliminating the extremes, you can immediately create a basis fostering safety and respect. This allows you to move on into different and better forms of communication on the road to healing the relationship.
